| Junichi Arai has had
a long and distinguished career working directly with many fashion
designers including Issey Miyake and Rei Kawakubo. He has initiated
and developed highly innovative fibres and processes for which
he has received awards. These awards include: International
Trade and Industry Minister’s Prize at the
Grand Fair of Synthetic Fibres, Japan

Honorary Member Royal Designers for Industry,
England
Design Medal, Textile Institute
He has exhibited regularly at major centres in Japan and throughout
the world including:

His work is included in the permanent collections
of many museums including the Victoria and Albert Museum London,
the Museum of Modern Art New York and the American Craft Museum.
He lectures internationally and is currently guest Professor
at Tama Arts University. He is also a technical consultant
to the textile industry and chairman of the Jovian Christie
Incorporation Japan.
